Babe’s Chicken came up in 1993 in Roanoke, Texas. The founder Paul and Mary Beth Vinyard started their first Country Cooking restaurant in 1981 and named it Bubba’s after the nickname Paul. Initially located in Dallas, the restaurant was converted into an Art Deco-styled restaurant.

The restaurant had most of its menu similar to Babe’s Chicken. After Bubba’s became a blockbuster, the founder started their second restaurant and named it Babe’s Chicken after the nickname Mary Beth.

She had created the recipe for the chicken that became the flagship recipe of the restaurant. Hence the restaurant was named after Mary Beth. Though Babe passed away in 2008, Babe’s Chicken continues to run her legacy.
