The first Culver’s store came up in 1984 in Sauk City, Wisconsin. The founder Craig and Lea Culver along with Craig’s parents George and Ruth welcomed the first guest at Culver’s.

The family was in awe of Sauk City and decided to open their first restaurant in the beloved city. In the initial days, the founder served Butter Burgers and Frozen Custard thus wooing the natives with their delicacy.

The Culver family started Culver’s restaurant primarily to cater to the insatiable cravings of customers. Thus they prepared a crave-able menu and served the most amazing things Burgers and Frozen Custard.

The freshness of a Butter Burger was what kept customers coming in. Along with that, the rich yet creamy frozen custard sealed the deal for every guest at the Culvers.

Culver’s took no time to make way to the heart of the Wisconsin natives. That propelled the Culver family to open up more locations in Wisconsin itself.

Culver’s had widened up to 14 locations in Wisconsin until the first out-of-the-state location in Buffalo, Minnesota in 1995. In the same year, Culver’s made its way to Illinois and by 1997 the Iowa location came up.

In 1998, Culver’s made its way outside the Midwest with the opening of the Texas location. In the next decade, Culver’s expanded beyond the Midwest in cities like Colorado, Wyoming, Kentucky, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. Currently, Culver’s owns over 878 restaurants across several American states.

The introduction of the iconic Culver’s Butter Burger was made through an ice cream scoop when fresh beef was scooped out and pressed before being grilled. The story of the quintessential Culver’s Frozen Custard lays back to the college days of the founders when he fell in love with the creamy texture.

In the growing years, another item that made history after being added to the Culver’s menu is the famous Culver’s cheese curds. Little golden cheese curds are nothing but drops from heaven and went on to become a Culver’s classic.

Over the years, Culver’s menu and prices have evolved a lot owing to the growing needs of the customers and also to live up to the trending food culture. Nevertheless, Culver’s menu is pocket-friendly and suits every customer who visits the restaurant.
