Zpizza History

Zpizza was founded by Sid Fanarof in 1986 in Laguna Beach, California. California is home to some of the best artisans this world has ever seen.

So it is no surprise that Sid has enough background experience to support his passion and love for food.

But the initial store had no solid name. It was called simply The Pizza Place, which was vague and had no brand value.

But his partner in crime, Suzi Megroz, pronounced The Pizza with something like Zee Pizza Place. She was raised in France, and that’s why it sounded like this.

But Sid liked it and saw it as a profound discovery. Right then, he decided to add the Zee to his brand, and the final result was Zpizza Place.

It resonated quite well, plus it was a new name. He registered his company that year and officially adopted it.

Throughout the year, Zpizza Place started to sound outdated since most modern chains have simpler terms.

Like KFC or Domino’s. So management decided to ditch Place and go forward with Zpizza. This is going on to this day, and we think it’ll stay like this for a while.

There were two more business partners after that: one was Chris Bright, and the second was Dan Rowe, who also happened to be the founder of Fransmart.

Zpizza started franchising around the year 2000, and stores kept popping up around Florida and some in Orange County.

Then, in 2022, Zpizza USA bought the rest of the chain. Since then, Zpizza has expanded rapidly around Phoenix Metro and Southeast Asia.

Now it’s a multinational company that serves the best pizzas with fresh local ingredients. Many local grocery businesses have partnered with Zpizza, creating thousands of job opportunities.

Zpizza Review

Now that that’s done, let’s begin our next chapter with some of the best Zpizza menus. Now it has international dishes too.

As always, we were looking for something different and saw a unique name. It was called Spicy Thai Chicken Pizza.

It’s a pretty unusual name, isn’t it? It turned out to be an international dish from Thailand that had a spicy flavor to it.

It had Thai peanut sauce, mozzarella, chicken breast, carrots, purple onions, cilantro, and chili crunch.

The purple onion was an unusual addition. It was hot, unlike white onions, which don’t hit hard. Even some Indian restaurants used this, and it gave it a burning sensation without using chili.

But this pizza dish took it to the next level by adding a spicy chili crunch. Meanwhile, cilantro and peanut sauce made it a bit sweet.

The result was a sweet burning that was addictive. It deserves praise. Spicy foods aren’t our style, but this one proved it wrong.

Now it was time for some cool salad to fix this burning sensation. There were half a dozen salads. But we liked the sound of pear and gorgonzola.

It had mixed greens, housemade roasted candied walnuts, fresh pear slices, and gorgonzola with balsamic vinaigrette.

Peer fixed our overburned mouth, while mixed greens and walnuts helped us relieve our throat. It flushed out the remains of the pizza dish we had, and now we had a little bit of time to try out some desserts.

Unfortunately for us, there was no desert. But the Zpizza menu had some shareable options. So we picked cheesy garlic bread.

It had focaccia, fresh garlic, provolone, parmesan cheese, part-skim mozzarella, fresh oregano, and marinara sauce. Each ingredient was freshly picked, which was the main reason behind the good flavor.

Final Thoughts

The pizza menu has improved quite well over the years. All thanks to the acquisition, which gave the sinking stores a good supply of funds.

The USA branch was doing well, while the international ones needed some new ideas. That’s when Zpizza decided to introduce items from other countries.

This was a perfect decision. It directly affected the Zpizza menu and prices but in a good way. Now most things are well priced—not too high, not too low.

Well-made harmony between everything. But in the end, all that matters is the quality of the food, and Zpizza did not disappoint us.
