Little Big Burger History
Micah Camden and Katie Poppe developed this fast-casual restaurant concept in 2010. The main goal was to serve high-quality burgers with the freshest ingredients.
Each burger was cooked after the order was placed, making it piping hot at the time of serving. And as always, a good warm meal always tastes better than a cold one.
Pearl District was filled with local grocery shops, offering the best quality ingredients for a cheap price.
And the interesting part about it was that they also got a free sample of Little Big Burger as a reward for delivering just that.
Most people loved the vibe. Chill music and not-so-chill food—what more can anyone ask for? Well, people didn’t just ask; they begged for more!
In 2015, Chanticleer Holdings officially acquired this chain and started expanding it. Over the past 8 years, Little Big Burger has grown to 5 US states.
Notably, North Carolina, California, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. The overall numbers didn’t grow that much and stuck somewhere around 8 locations.
Again, the majority of this came from the COVID pandemic, which dealt a devastating blow to most small businesses like Little Big Burgers.
But the emergency loan by the government did save it; otherwise, LBB may have been forgotten in the rush of time.
In fact, they didn’t, which is proof that Little Big Burger can do more than meets the eye. In 2019, it was unionized, making it one of the few small businesses with significant power over their workers.
You can say this was one of the big reasons for their survival during the pandemic. For now, the brand will focus more on its homeland for expansion than on newer states.
Little Big Burger Review

Our review team went on the ground to check how things were and how deep the rumors went in one of eight flagship stores.
Upon arriving, we knew exactly what to order. One hamburger, truffle fries, and a cold hard beer. Maybe some dessert, but that’s for last.
As for the hamburger, the protein patty was made with a quarter pound of natural beef cooked on medium heat.
Along with shredded lettuce, red onion, pickles, and Little Big Burger’s ketchup on a freshly baked bun.
This bun was made with brioche, and each ingredient is prepared to order. So yeah, the serving was hot AF! And we expect no less from LBB.
The beef patties were thick, which was a big relief since a lot of small businesses cheaped out on this one. LBB didn’t, which was a big surprise.
It was quite juicy on the inside; the oil was managed well too; nothing too messy; and the ketchup was probably home-ground.
Overall, this was a well-made burger, nothing more. I don’t know what I expected, but it’s definitely not bad in any way.
Not overwhelmingly good either. I can only say that if anyone asked me whether I’d eat our lunch at LBB, then my answer would be yes.
Well, let’s move on to the fries. Basically, thin slices of skin-on potatoes were tossed in white truffle oil and then sprinkled with kosher salt.
Get either the same ketchup as the hamburger or a different fry sauce. I recommend going for the ketchup; it’s really good, and as a bonus, you can dip it in your hamburger as an additional sauce.

Final Thoughts
In the end, I decided to skip the beer part. Because my tummy was surprisingly heavy after those two items.
Maybe the fries were a bit heavy? Anyway, it’s a fact that whatever Little Big Burger serves, it’s good, and you can feel it after a while.
Little Big Burger’s menu lacks in numbers, that’s for sure. There are only 10 main choices: gluten-free, more cheese, and bacon. Yup, that’s it!
Maybe it had more items before the pandemic hit. Anyway, each dish is well curated, and our team gives full regard to that.
LBB has plans to expand more in Oregon for now. Maybe we’ll see a few more stores this year; who knows?
But this much is certain: Little Big Burger excels at providing a good time. Quality over quantity—that’s how it goes in their kitchen.
