This restaurant opened its doors on May 4th, 2005. The founders of this marvelous restaurant were Grant Achatz and co-owner Nick Kokonas.

The name Alinea is based on a symbol called PillCrow. According to the owner, it means “off the line.”.

He also said you can even see it differently. Like the beginning of a new train. If we combine those two definitions, then we will get something like “the start of a new train or journey about food that aims to come off the line.”

What does it mean? Well, check their food, and you’ll know exactly what it means. Alinea menu has a unique element.

This element or style is the result of the new journey by the owners and head chef (the same person) of the company. It also refuses to follow the same trends as others.

In May 2016, a popular Netflix show named Chef’s Table featured the owner and head chef of Alinea. In that episode, the journey of Achatz and the innovative cooking techniques were highlighted.

But in 2020, Alinea menu and prices made a bold move. It was the middle of the COVID pandemic, and this restaurant presented a menu shaped like the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The restaurant owner called it a move to provoke awareness among people. But many others marked it as disrespectful and insensitive towards the people who died at the hands of this virus.

This means the menu will vary depending on when you come and where you come. Anyway, here are a few famous dishes made by the head chef, Achatz.

Foie Gras, for example, is a mixture of a total of seven food packs. Food packs taste different, and depending on your preference, some will blow you away while others may disappoint.

Foie gras is a French word that means fat liver. Duck liver, to be precise. This falls under the main dish of your course, which is salty by nature.

Other packs consist of cookies, potatoes, truffles, etc. We won’t break all the fun, so while you are at it, explore what the other flavors are and comment down below.

Most of the items are made in smaller portions, like one or two bites. But that’s the whole reason why you’ll get to experience a series of foods and not just one.

Like a beef dish called Veal Cheek, which is rather smaller than Wagyu. It comes in spoon-sized bites, which go into your stomach in seconds.

It’s prepared with a lot of classical red wine and then seasoned with a spicy fragrance. But that’s not all; this one dish alone can take up to or more than 3 hours to prepare. So make sure to savor every bite.

Meanwhile, if premium quality is all you want, then just go for Wagyu. It’s salty and cut into the perfect bite shape. It’s just a high-quality meat dish—nothing more, nothing less.

The restaurant is divided into 3 menu options, and it can take from 2 to 3 hours depending on what you pick.
