Grandy’s does not have hundreds of stores or any international ties, but it’s one of the few that believes that home cooking is better than current mass-produced ones.

Grandy’s History
Grandy’s was founded by two friends named Walter E. Johnson and Rex E. Sanders. These two gentlemen were previous colleagues at work.
They worked in a cafeteria called Dallas in Texas, and that’s where they met. These two turned themselves into entrepreneurs and sold lots of chain restaurants.
Soon they had enough funds and courage to open one of their own, and that’s how Grandy’s was born. The goal was to serve fast food with a touch of full-service restaurants.
Their firm was under the ownership of Saga Foods, Inc. after they acquired Grandy’s in 1983. Grandy’s menu experienced the biggest sales growth during that time.
In the 1980s, they had way over 200 stores around the USA. As always, nothing lasts for long, and Saga Enterprises sold Grandy’s soon after.
This led to a big reduction in funds, and slowly, many locations were closed. 1990 afterward came the loss streak that seems to be going to the current point.
Now under the leadership of American Restaurant Group, Grandy’s has tried its best and even performed well in markets in Texas and Oklahoma, southern Indiana, and northern Kentucky.
Most of Grandy’s restaurants are now present in the above locations. At the start of the 21st century, ARG sold four of its subsidiaries to Spectrum Restaurant Group.
Grandy’s menu was also one of them. Due to this loss streak, two lead executives named Steve Butts and Brian Bowen left Grandy’s.
Due to a lack of strong leaders, Monty Whitehurst took over the role. He was inexperienced, and that led to 18 more stores being closed down within a year.
Once, Grandy’s had 200 stores, but now it’s down to only 23. Most of these are located in locations in Georgia, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Indiana, Kentucky, and Texas.

You’ll get 6 or 10 nuggets, which are served with 2 regular sides and a famous grandmother’s roll. You can also have your choice of dipping sauce from these available options: gravy, BBQ, honey, ranch, buffalo, mustard, or sweet & sour.

These rolls are made with a blend of nuts, cinnamon, and raisins, topped with icing. It comes in three sizes: one person or small bite, half size, and full dozen.
