In-N-Out Burger History

The 20th century was a hotspot for originals. Many big, well-known companies and businesses started between 1900 and 2000.

In-N-Out Burger was also one of them. It all began in 1948 when two brothers named Harry and Esther Snyder opened the first drive-thru hamburger stand in California.

Since it was a first in that region, many curious customers started popping up left and right. It wasn’t a big hit on day one since it was only a 10-square-foot space.

It was still a post-WW2 era, and the economy tried its best to kickstart everything. That’s when many other big businesses started their new journey, just like the Snyder brothers.

Anyway, at that time, the Snyder brothers had introduced a two-way speaker system with which customers ordered their food. It was a new concept that is still running to this day.

Then, in 1951, the second restaurant was opened in Covina, California. Now two brothers had their own restaurants, and the quality was still the best, just like in their first restaurant.

Then, finally, in 1954, the very first In-N-Out Burger sign board made its appearance, replacing the old-fashioned “No Delay” board.

They went all in for this idea, and thanks to that, we can also see it in action. By the 1970s, the Snyders brothers had opened over 18 restaurants before the passing of Harry in 1976.

The first generation was almost over after the death of one of the founding fathers. Then their offspring took their place, like Rich Snyder, the son of Harry Snyder.

He was only 24 years old when all this happened, but he proudly took on the big responsibility.

In the next 20 years, In-N-Out Burger enjoyed massive growth, and by the end of 2023, it had around 400 restaurants throughout the United States.

It all started with a single hamburger. A small step towards the big league and the ingredients that they use prove how much care each serving has.

Their signature dish, for example, goes by the name Double-Double.

Each serving has seven types of fillings. The base is a slow-baked Songe Dough, which is also baked in the old-fashioned way.

The tradition is what gives it the sweat base that everyone loves. Then the next layer is a layer of homemade American cheese. Well, nothing goes wrong when it comes to real Americans, so yeah, that’s that.

Next on the list is American beef, which is 100% additive, presentation, and filler-free. Just the deep-fried goodies and nothing more.

Next come the veggies, such as tomatoes, lettuce, and yellow onions. The cherry on top is their original sauce, unchanged from 1948.

As a side dish, you can choose one big beverage cup like 7UP, Coke, Iced Tea, etc., along with a box full of crunchy French fries.

But it doesn’t end there. They also offer shakes, which aren’t included in the bundle but still pair well with all In-N-Out Burger menu items.

The shakes come in 3 flavors: chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, and are made from real homemade ice cream.

Did we hear that right? You are allergic to beef? Don’t be sad. The In-N-Out Burger menu also has cheeseburgers and hamburgers for these occasions.

The only difference would be the slice of meat; other than that, everything remains the same as the first dish on the list.

Final Thoughts

If you are on the hunt for something new and original, then the In-N-Out Burger menu is the right stop for you.

It has the perfect blend of meat and veggies, which makes a true burger.

Also, the original sauce that they make is a teal taste tester. So, what are you waiting for? As you have checked the In-N-Out Burger menu prices given above, go get one right now!
