Proof Bakery History
The store was first launched by chef/owner Na Young Ma in Atwater Village, Los Angeles, California in 2010. This bakery found a home in a location that housed a bakery in 1960.
In that space, the Rollin’ Pin was the very first bakery that got placed, which was then replaced by the Dutch-American Bakery.
After some years, the Dutch-American Bakery was taken over by Toni’s Rollin Pin, which the Victor Benes Bakery took over. Finally, the Victor Beans Bakery was replaced with Na Young Ma’s Proof Bakery.
Even after being in action for almost 12 years, the bakery has not expanded to other locations. The bakery has grown in size, both infrastructure, menu, and employee-wise.
Over the years, Proof has built a strong customer-brand relationship. Not only the menu is filled with goodness, but the customer service at Proof is also beyond excellence.
The brand received acclamation and accolades from across the state for its outstanding service. Some big names in the press industry like the James Beard Foundation, New York Times, LA Times, Food and Wine, and more have constantly praised Proof for its consistency and authenticity of high-quality baked goods, that are hand-crafted out of farm fresh ingredients.
The year 2021 initiated a new wave at Proof Bakery when owner Na Young Ma stepped down as the sole owner of the brand. The proof is now an employee-owned corporative that is managed by the workers and staff in the bakery.
Before stepping back, Ma took two years to discuss and plan out the working and management of the bakery after the conversion, and finally, on August 13, 2021, the transition was finalized.
