The southern area has always been famous for its hospitality. But did you know the food also tastes better? Welcome to Jack’s, which does exactly that! Below, you can check Jack’s menu with prices.

Jack’s has been around in America for more than 60 years now. It started as a hamburger stand, but now it serves more than that.

Who knew that a simple idea such as cheap food with great care could turn the entire market upside down? Well, the vision wasn’t to compete against big brands.

Instead, the only reason Jack’s was opened in the first place was to provide a warm meal. Even if it comes in the form of fast food.

Food is food, and no negligence would be tolerated! That’s what the owner used to say. So are you excited to know about their special dishes? Well, wait a minute! First, let’s take a look at Jack’s menu prices.

Jack’s History

Jack’s was founded on November 21, 1960, by Jack Caddell. It was a single walk-up stand, and it was standing in Homewood, Alabama.

Do not mistake walk-up for walk-in. There is a big difference between these two. Walk-in means there is a sitting space.

While walk-up means you have to get near the stall and order while standing, if you have no vehicle with you, then the eating part will also happen while standing up.

Well, this was not a big deal since hamburgers are accustomed to being eaten quickly. It doesn’t take a lot of time to finish or to serve. And that was one of many reasons why Jack’s menu boomed in popularity.

The hamburger itself cost 15 cents, and it had fries as a side dish. While drinks cost $20 and a separate item called Fish-On-A-Bun.

Well, think about it: just 15 cents for an original recipe! This was a steal, and by the 1960s, Jack’s menu had more than 50 locations on and running.

Just 10 years later, Jack’s menu expanded its territory to south Alabama and the Florida panhandle. But this wouldn’t last long, as by the 1980s, many Jack’s locations were closed due to low sales.

But there was one person who had massive success with Jack’s. And that gentleman was Benny LaRussa.

Benny was a grocery guy; he was fed up with the daily boring life, so he went and bought 13 Jack’s restaurants and franchised them.

He bought it in 1979, and when stores suddenly started closing in the 1980s, he took the chance and bought it.

By then, we had 33 active stores. A few years later, in the 88s, Benny bought the entire Jack’s franchise and made it his own.

Jack’s Review

The most popular item in the past was breakfast. But now Jack’s menu has far more than mere breakfast items.

We were quite hungry, so we went to Big BLT. This is a classic dish on Jack’s menu; the sheer smell told us all about it.

It had bacon, tomato, and lettuce sandwiches on amazing Texas toast. The meat was so juicy that we went for round 2, and man, that was worth it.

There was also an item called the Big Value Meal Deal. This one had a hot and juicy double cheeseburger along with three tender hand-breaded chicken fingers, fries, and a regular drink of your choice.

But this isn’t over yet! We also had fried pies from the dessert section. Wait, fried? Yup, you heard it right. This fruity pie is fried, and that’s why it has a crunchy taste.

And the funniest part is that it tasted better than any normal pie we had. It’s just a true dessert that deserves thousands of compliments.

Since we had a lot of meat in our stomachs, we went for a plate of salad. Only to find out that even salads had meat in them. So anyway, we ordered a plate of BLT salad.

It had similar ingredients to the burger we had. And yeah. The list goes like this: lettuce, tomato, shredded cheddar, crispy bacon crumbles, and croutons.

We also had the option to choose our choice of ranch-like raspberry vinaigrette, Thousand Island, or fat-free honey Dijon mustard dressing.

And finally, to sum everything up, we ordered a bottle of Simply Orange® juice. It was the fan favorite from the drink section. The reason is the purity of this squeezed, pasteurized orange juice.

Final Thoughts

Well, the past incidents didn’t die after Benny took over. In 2015, Jack’s was acquired by Onex Corporation.

But that wasn’t enough; in 2019, it was sold again to an unknown buyer. We don’t know for sure, but the rumor pointed toward a private equity firm called AEX Investors.

Anyway, the fact is that despite the changes Jack’s received, it still managed to stay. Even the active locations went quite high.

Jack’s menu was serving 238 locations. So, what are you waiting for? Get to your closet’s Jack’s stall right now, or order online! Whichever suits you the most.
