Liguria Bakery History
The bakery was started by Ambrogio Soracco in 1911 in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco, California, United States.
The founder started the bakery with the help of his brothers Giovanni and Giuseppe. The location where Liguria Bakery started had a church previously. After the relocation, Liguria Bakery was conceived in that very spot.
Soracco was an Italian guy who had emigrated from Chiavari to San Fransico. After being associated with and working at several bakeries, Ambrogio planned to start his own bakery along with his brothers as a family startup.
That’s how Liguria Bakery came into existence. In 1938, Ambrogio passed away, and eventually, his brothers sold their shares in the bakery.
After that Ambrogio’s wife Mary and his new partner took over the bakery and started running it successfully. Mary and his partner hired bakers and ran the Liguria Bakery for around eight years.
In 2000, when Mary’s son George Soracco became a baker himself, the Soracco family repurchased the other two shares of the Liguria Bakery.
To date, the Liguria bakery continues to be run by the third generation of the Soracco family.
After nearly 110 years of its inception, the Liguria bakery stands strong in San Francisco’s neighborhood and continues to serve the natives and visitors.
