We all know what lobster is, but they also serve many other items like clamps, fish dishes, salads, etc.

Weathervane Seafood has a total of four active restaurants and one seasonal one that opened a stall in the summer at Weirs Beach in Laconia.

Weathervane Seafood Restaurant History

Raymond and Bea Gagner founded the Weathervane Seafood Restaurant in 1969 in Kittery, Maine, in New England.

The main goal of these two gentlemen was to provide their family dishes to tourists looking for fancy seafood plates.

While giving a relaxing time for summer stroke people. Weathervane has sold millions of lobsters and many other seafood throughout the years.

These kinds of foods come from their territory. It won’t become world-famous like chicken wings since these dishes aren’t cheap.

Despite all that, Weathervane Seafood Restaurant menu and prices are cost-effective. Probably that’s why their chain survived instead of sinking under competition.

Now Jeremy, the grandson of Bea, works as the chief operating officer and takes care of things. He manages where ingredients come from and where the leftovers go.

But that’s not all; Weathervane is also involved in many community-based activities. For example, the Weathervane Seafoods Charity Golf Tournament raises over $100k each year.

Then these funds are directly donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This foundation grants one wish to critically ill children with less or almost no time to live.

They also have many other programs, like Chowdah for Charity or Send ’em for Seafood. These programs offer certificates and funds for raffles.

Also, they sell their crabs at these events, which are called Claws for a Cause. This is also a program where most of the proceeds from sales are donated to charity organizations.

We are just scratching the surface when it comes to their community work. You’ll be surprised by how many lives Weathervane Seafood Restaurant has saved over the years.

They are the true heroes in society who get little to no credit outside of New England. To them, sharing is caring, and it’s the best they can do.

Weathervane Seafood Restaurant Review

At this point, you’ll have a clear idea of the Weathervane Seafood Restaurant menu and prices. It’s cheaper than what most will expect.

It’s also a multicourse meal that offers more than four levels of eating. Everyone starts with an appetizer, so we did too.

We went with fried calamari appetizers. It’s a classical recipe in Rhode Island style.

Everything is tossed with garlic butter sauce and cherry peppers and then served with marinara.

It ignited our hunger, so now it’s time for something good. Next on the list was a salad, so we went with a garden salad.

It was a flavorful mix of cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, croutons, and shredded cheese. You can also pick a side dish or house salad.

The same goes for protein. We will recommend going for lobster salad as a protein. It’s their specialty, after all, so why leave it at that?

It was pretty good, but not enough to destroy our hunger. So now we had to go for something big. Then we noticed the baked-stuffed seafood combo from the Weathervane Seafood Restaurant menu.

This had its crabmeat stuffing. Featuring three baked stuffed shrimp, sea scallops, haddock, and lobster.

The perfect harmony of three of the best seafoods we could ever think of. The lobster was crunchy, and its meat was juicy, like we thought.

Meanwhile, shrimp just enhances the flavor, and sea scallops take it to the next level. Haddock balanced everything out and kept the flavor coming.

Despite everything, our stomachs still somehow had a small space for dessert. So it was time for the Wild Blueberry Cobbler.

This bad boy was Maine-made from an original family recipe, loaded with fresh Maine blueberries.

It was served warm and then further topped with vanilla ice cream. Just heavenly, nothing more, nothing less.

Final Thoughts

Weathervane Seafood Restaurant currently has 4 locations in Dover, Chichester, West Lebanon, and Kittery.

And the fifth one only opens in the summer, when Weirs Beach becomes a hotspot for tourists alike. Other community-driven programs are also held.

Meanwhile, their main restaurants run throughout the year. But will this remain like this forever? We think yes.

Weathervane Seafood Restaurant menu prices are adjusted during different times of the year. During the summer, you can find huge discounts to lure new customers.

In short, Weathervane is a perfect getaway from everyday food. Sea foods contain a lot of protein, and their saltiness will refresh your taste buds, no matter how.
