First Watch History

First Watch Inside usamenuprices

This restaurant giant started its first run in Pacific Grove, California, in 1983. It’s been over 40 years already, and the founding fathers were Ken Pendery and John Sullivan.

The name First Watch refers to one of the three shifts that Americans take. A first shift usually starts in the daytime and goes all the way to noon.

That’s the fundamentals of First Watch, and that’s why it remains open from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The same goes for the motto of their brand, “The Daytime Cafe.”

Anyway, making breakfast was a hassle at that time. Even now, it’s pretty hard to find a lover who knows how to cook a proper meal.

Whatever the reason may be, the approach of the First Watch menu and prices struck hard, and soon it became a big hit.

Despite big shots like McDonald’s or KFC, the First Watch menu succeeded in finding a good foothold, which is now dominated by them.

Then the big turning point came in 2004 when Catterton’s stake was sold for a whopping $35 million. This allowed them to expand their territory in the Southeast and Midwest regions.

Thanks to that, First Watch suddenly doubled its stores and was employed in less than a year. A similar thing happened in 2011 when Advent Internationals bought yet another of their stakes.

The Good Egg was then acquired by First Watch in 2014, which again allowed them to have 114 catering stores in around 20 cities in America.

Now the bigger problem would be to convert all of them into a First Watch restaurant. Anyway, there aren’t any tragic moments; instead, they only go up from that period. Enough history talks; let’s see some of the finest items from the First Watch menu.

First Watch Review

The First Watch menu was filled with goodies like sandwiches, bacon, desserts, etc., which everyone loves in their first meal.

So we started our day with a “Mint Mocha Iced Coffee.” It is a famous morning drink that has mini Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips as the main ingredient.

Apart from that, you will also get chocolate and mint topped with a sweet cream cold foam in a heavenly blend called coffee.

Then we started our breakfast with a plate of “Healthy Turkey.” After drinking that cold, iced coffee, our throats wobbled for something warm and fresh. That’s where this menu comes in.

This menu has turkey as the main ingredient. Then further additions are house-roasted onions and tomatoes.

Also spinach and Feta cheese in a cage-free egg white omelette. Served with homemade whole-grain artisan toast and all-natural house preserves.

Then, just to balance everything out, we ordered a plate of Cobb Salad. The base has organic mixed greens, bacon, and turkey breast.

Then on the high side, you’ll get a hard-boiled cage-free egg, avocado, tomatoes, and buttermilk ranch dressing with Bleu cheese crumbles.

The First Watch menu and prices are diverse, and there’s a good reason for saying that. While most big shots offer you the same menu in all of their stores.

On the other hand, they have different items in different stores. Some items are area-exclusive, and that’s why there’s a good chance that some of these items are unknown to you.

That’s because the breakfast menu didn’t just originate from a single person; it’s a big restaurant chain that has renowned chefs in all of its cafes.

Final Thoughts

Anyway, for some, that can be considered a good thing or a bad thing. But this much is certain: all First Watch daytime cafes have plenty of menu items to explore.

It’s a perfect place for trying some new things out. It’s cheap and healthy, and there are even some familiar names like French Toast in them.

In the end, all that matters is good food, and First Watch surely delivers on that. Still curious? Well, just head over to your nearest First Watch and find out why people love it.
