The first La Brea Bakery opened up at 624 S La Brea Avenue, in Los Angeles, California in January 1989. The founders Nancy Silverstone and Mark Peel started La Brea Bakery to sell freshly baked bread all over the United States.

Until 1998, La Brea Bakery was a small store in LA serving sourdough Baguette, Country White Sourdough, Whole Wheat, Normandy Rye, Olive, Rosemary Olive Oil, and much more.

The founder started expanding La Brea Bakery in 1998 after opening a baking facility in Van Nuys, California. La Brea Bakery’s expansion started as the founders wanted to serve their freshly baked goods nationwide.
