Le Bernardin was nestled in 1972 in Paris, however, landed in New York City in 1986. The restaurant was started by sibling duo Maguy and Gilbert Le Coze.

Initially in Paris, the restaurant was called Les Moines de St. Bernardin, however in Manhattan, it was launched as Le Bernardin.

Since its inception in Paris, Le Bernardin served only fish that was simple and prepared to perfection. The restaurant received its first Michlin star in 1976 and two more in 1980. It was then that the Le Coze siblings planned to start the New York landmark.

In 1994, after the untimely passing away of Gilbert, his dispel and a very close friend Eric Ripert took over as the head chef and continued to cook the freshest fish as the hero of the plate.

Over the years, Le Bernardin NYC has taken a ride in being one of the finest restaurants in New York City to serve an exquisite menu.

Le Bernardin earned four stars from the New York Times consecutively for three months, and not a single star dropped from it throughout the five reviews, making it the only New York-based restaurant to get through it.

In September 2011, Ripert and Maguy launched the newest infrastructure of Le Bernardin designed by Bentel & Bentel.

The new look of Le Bernardin New York separated the lounge area from the dining area with a separate menu for each section.

Since then, Le Bernardin has been the recipient of the highly prestigious James Beard Foundation award for Best Restaurant Design in 2012, and in 2013, Maguy received the title of ‘Outstanding Restaurateur’, making her the first woman to earn it.

Throughout the years, the Le Bernardin menu and prices have evolved a lot primarily to cater to the growing needs of the customers and to elevate the business.

The restaurant has been one of the major New York landmarks and welcomes guests from across the country. The Le Bernardin menu prices are a bit pricy owing to the delicacy they offer.
