Texas Steakhouse & Saloon History

Unfortunately, the history part is in a shade, like we said earlier. Upon further inspection, we found that it’s somehow related to Texas Roadhouse.

Maybe the same founder also founded this one but eventually abandoned Texas Steakhouse & Saloon, since Texas Roadhouse was a big hit.

Anyway, we think it was probably founded in 1989. It was later acquired by Charlie Brown’s Organization, which also happens to own Sagebrush Steakhouse.

Now you can see both of them on the official website of Texas Steakhouse & Saloon. In total, these two restaurants have around seven locations.

Texas Steakhouse has six, while Sagebrush has one. Rest seems a mystery, like when it was acquired, why it got sold, or how good or bad the past was.

Texas Steakhouse & Saloon Review

History is a total mystery for now, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy the Texas Steakhouse & Saloon menu.

We went to Texas Lumberton, one of the finest locations we could find. Just like any other steakhouse, it too had a multicourse meal.

We started with a starter pack called Campfire Cheese Fries. It was a fine, salty dish with seasoned fries.

The fries were topped with Cheddar Jack cheese, crisp bacon, and green onions. Served with their signature Jalapeño Ranch dressing and Texas chili sauce.

It was quite spicy but had a well-balanced flavor. Nothing too fancy, just a fantastic appetizer to get the main meal started.

Next up, we ordered two dishes at once; the first one was steakhouse salad. It’s one of their signature dishes, so we just had to order it.

It was filled with sliced sirloin over a bed of fresh garden greens. You’ll also get bleu cheese crumbles, red onions, fried onion strings, tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, and croutons.

The second dish was our main spotlight, called Marshall Dillon Ribeye. You can also get bone-in or baby ribeye; both taste fantastic, as we could hear.

This bad boy was as thick as 12 oz. A hand-cut ribeye is marinated in a blend of fresh spices and citrus juice.

We also heard that it was grilled over an open flame to create a perfect blend of smokiness and flavors.

And that was indeed the case; there is no doubt about that. There is not even a single strand of fat in it. Meanwhile, the salad was well made with fresh ingredients.

Except for cucumber, that didn’t fit with the theme at all. So we asked to remove those. Anyway, if you don’t mind those veggies, then just go for it. Otherwise, order something else.

Final Thoughts

Despite the silent past, Texas Steakhouse & Saloon still managed to retain their original dishes as best as they could.

We can see the lack of motivation right from the start, but the results were quite good. We don’t think this chain will get any bigger.

It’s at its prime, and there’s nowhere to go. Texas Roadhouse is eating up all the search results from Google, shadowing this fine restaurant from people like us.

Also, a lack of public information can be the reason why people aren’t aware of it or show no interest. The reason can be anything, but in the end, we had a good time at their steakhouse.

Their menu was filled with signature dishes only, so you won’t see any out-of-place items at all. Only the finest meal and that’s it.
